Michel Daher Social Foundation, in collaboration with Bekaa Water Establishment (BWE) and in partnership with Expertise France, officially concluded “Water for the Land of Water” project during a ceremony held at the Foundation’s headquarters in Ferzol. The project marks a major step toward improving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability at Jdita Water Station, which provides safe water to more than 71,000 citizens.
Attendees included the representative of the Governor of the Bekaa; the mayors of Ferzol, Zahle-Maalaka, Taanayel, Jdita, Chtaura, Makse, Bar Elias, and Taalabaya; as well as religious leaders, economic and social figures, and key industrial stakeholders.
During the project, a comprehensive energy audit was conducted, followed by targeted technical upgrades that improved both water quality and quantity, ensuring a more reliable and efficient supply. Additionally, 45 BWE staff members participated in capacity-building programs, enhancing the station’s operations and long-term resilience.
By combining technical improvements with community training and staff development, the “Water for the Land of Water” project has created a lasting impact, ensuring that Jdita Water Station continues to provide reliable and safe water services to thousands of residents for years to come.

This initiative is implemented in collaboration with the Bekaa Water Establishment, under the Shabake2 project. It is supported by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Centre de Crise et de Soutien (CDCS) and implemented by Expertise France.
