Michel Daher Social Foundation hosted the official launch of the SALAM Project, designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agrifood and agriculture sectors and promote social stability. The event took place at the Foundation’s premises in Ferzol, bringing together representatives from GIZ, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Zahle and the Bekaa, municipal federations, government institutions, universities, agricultural research centers, and community organizations.
The project aims to enhance the growth and sustainability of SMEs by providing technical and in-kind support to improve productivity and competitiveness, reduce operational costs, and transition toward green energy solutions, ultimately contributing to economic and social stability in different regions of the Bekaa.
The event began with welcoming remarks highlighting the Foundation’s commitment to empowering productive sectors and supporting local economic development. GIZ representatives emphasized the importance of local-international collaboration in driving sustainable development and improving the living conditions of vulnerable communities.
A detailed presentation of the SALAM Project followed, outlining its goals, implementation strategy, and the expected benefits for participating SMEs.
The SALAM Project is a vital step in the Foundation’s broader mission to strengthen entrepreneurship and support key economic sectors in Lebanon.
It is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in partnership with the Michel Daher Social Foundation (MDSF), and commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
