Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods Project

A roadmap for developing more resilient livelihoods across the Bekaa region

Michel Daher Foundation's PSL project aims to improve livelihoods in Bekaa areas through training, technical assistance, infrastructure rehabilitation, and facilitating access to the market.

In 2020, Michel Daher Foundation initiated the implementation of a five-year PSL project (Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods) that is funded by USAID. The project is implemented under a sub-grant agreement with the Renee Mouawad Foundation in the Bekaa region.

The mission of the PSL project is to boost the livelihoods of 31,500 households across 105 municipalities spanning North, Bekaa, South, and Mount Lebanon areas.

As part of the project, Michel Daher Foundation is playing a crucial role in community assessments — evaluating tourism, light industries, agriculture, and other assets within the pre-selected clusters of municipalities. The goal is to pinpoint potential interventions that will amplify the livelihoods of the local community residents.

In the second year of the five-year USAID project, Michel Daher Foundation is implementing one of its major PSL subprojects: establishing a fully-equipped Car Diagnostic Center in Bekaa to serve as a hub and business facilitator for the local car mechanics professionals and graduates who cannot afford to open their own workshops or don’t have access to the latest equipments and tools.
